About Acolytes

Information about Acolytes

Who are the Acolytes?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Acolytes are not your average run-of-the-mill guild. We consider ourselves to be a Gaming Community of like-minded individuals who spend their free time playing video games. We have spent copious amounts of time building a strong leadership core which has led to much success in gaining a solid membership base. Throughout the glorious history of the Acolytes we have experienced many server firsts, and even quite a few of the world firsts! We have active Guild Leaders, active Officers and even more important...an active player base. This solid backing of active leaders, active Officers, active players has led to our success as a Community and will be the foundation to our continued success.

The Acolytes were formed on April 11th, 2005 by Hieru. He woke up one morning wanting to create a multi facet guild, and set out to do so. After tens of minutes of thought he came up with the name “Acolytes”. He began to advertise for members of this new guild for the upcoming MMO, Age of Conan. On April 12th, 2005 after using public forums to advertise his new guild, the first member, Skullscrusher, joined the Acolytes. To this day, Skullcrusher still faithfully serves under the Acolyte tag. After months of release date setbacks for Age of Conan, the guild had grown to quite a few players waiting to join the game. On May 17th of 2008, after the long awaited launch of Age of Conan, we became the Cimmeria RP-PvP’s server first guild at 10:16 a.m. server time. On January 4th, 2008 the Acolytes became a multi-game community by opening up a Warhammer Online Division. This new division started with just 3 members (Cach, Rache, Dredger) and quickly swelled to 105 members before the October launch of Warhammer. Not only did the Acolytes quickly establish themselves as the dominant force on Cimmeria in Age of Conan, but the Acolytes of WAR quickly took over the #1 Spot on the Phoenix Throne server in Warhammer. From that day forward Acolytes would continue to be successful while having fun along the way.

We have members in every corner of the globe; from the Pacific coast of the US, to the United Kingdom, to Turkey and all the way over to Australia and New Zealand. We are a diverse group of individuals that come from varied backgrounds, cultures and jobs. We claim many armed service men and women, a web designer, a graphic artist, a Secret Service agent, stay-at-home mom’s and dad’s, factory workers, auto workers, a disc jockey, supervisors, plant managers, salesmen, drug counselors, underwriters, stock brokers, students and the unemployed. Each one of them brings to us a different perspective, a different feel and a different reason as to what makes them a gamer. Grab a beer and make yourself at home!

What are the Acolytes Guidelines?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Acolytes have very few guidelines, but we adhere to them to keep order.

  • Respect your community members.

  • No discriminatory slurs, comments or epitaphs.

  • No religious debates or discussion about religion

  • No political arguments or discussion about anything political.

  • Real life comes first.

  • Be mindful that you represent the Acolyte Gaming community with your actions in game and on forum

Acolyte Member Policy

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our goal is to foster and grow an active social community of gamers. We are not looking to have thousands of members where no one knows anyone else. Our vision is to grow an active community over time, where you get to know those who play the same game. Acolytes that played one game may play in the future with Acolytes they may have not had much contact with, but will have the comfort knowing that we are all Acolytes, and are all in pursuit of the same common goal.

1. To join the Acolytes Gaming community, you must fill out an application HERE. The goal is to allow the new applicant time to see if we are what they want in a guild, and to see if they are a good fit for our community. The applicant will have a fourteen day trial period. Different chapters may alter the details of process to meet their specifications. Whichever process is used, the end goal is to determine if the new applicant fits in with our community. The applicant will be accepted or denied after fourteen days.

2. When you play a game that the Acolytes have an official chapter in, you will be given access to that chapter's Members Only voice and text chat channels. Chapter leadership is responsible for keeping their roster and Discord tags up to date. If someone leaves that chapter, they will be removed from those Members Only channels.

3. If you're playing a game where we have an official chapter, we ask that you do the following:

  • Play with the Acolyte guild that we have in that game. If someone cannot play with the Acolyte guild, it can be discussed with the leadership of that chapter, and resolved on a case-by-case basis.
  • We encourage everyone to hop in Discord voice each night to socialize with others that are playing the same game. We will require all members to be in Discord for guild events, to listen at the very least.
  • We ask everyone to follow our policy on no discussion of religion or politics.

If at any time a chapter's leadership feels that you are being a disturbance to the chapter or community, you will be given a warning. If you receive a second warning, you will be removed from the community.

This is a list of our Official Acolyte Chapters:

Elder Scrolls Online

What is HAROO?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are part of the Acolytes you will hear a few terms used quite often. HAROO and DBH are long standing traditions that have carried on through the ages! The Urban Dictionary definition can be found HERE. Please feel free to thumb UP our terms on Urban Dictionary. We were very tired of the age old WOOT from previous MMO's. We wanted to create something a bit different and make us stand out a bit. HAROO was inspired by a mix of an old Irish chant with some 300 mixed in. We say HAROO whenever something good happens with the guild or it's members. That could be someone gaining a level, burning down a Keep, or anything that is positive for the members of community.

A quote from FatGoat on 7/7/2009

"I have always tried to keep people entertained. As people already know or will know, it isn't always the game that keeps people coming back to log on each night after work. It is the community that keeps us all together and if we are all having fun then I am happy."

This tradition has been long standing since the beginning of the Acolytes and shall continue years into the future. Take pride in your Acolyte affiliation. Acolytes Rise. Fall. Rise Again!

Make sure you always obey Rule #5, no matter what!

"Never neglect your family or friends in real life. Make sure to give them the love and attention they need and make sure your spouse or significant other is always satisfied mentally, emotionally and sexually."

A Time Honored Tradition

What is DBH?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The DBH started a long long time ago as we wanted to come up with something a bit more official then....hey lets all get drunk again this weekend! We decided to start DBH night. DBH is generally on Friday nights, but there is no rule that it can't be on Saturday nights as well. It stands for Drinks....Boobs....Haroo!

The basic rules of DBH are

1. Whenever someone mentions some form of boob in guild chat or Discord everyone has to take a drink or partake in some sort of banned substance.

2. After they take their drink they say HAROO in guild chat or on Discord.

It is all kind of silly when you step back and look at it, but when you get alot of people all doing it, it is pretty damn funny.

You may be wondering at this point, well why isn't it named BDH? We have a long standing member named Maxima that actually came up with the name. She is Argentinian, so her translation was a bit off, but we went with it anyways.

You can find our Urban Dictionary entry for DBH HERE

Here is a definition and a very tame example of DBH

It is a drinking game. It stands for Drinks....Boobs....Haroo! The basic rules are that whenever someone mentions some form of boob everyone has to take a drink or take part with some sort of banned substance and then yell HAROO after you do it.

Goat says, Boobs!

Someone says, Drink!

*then everyone drinks*

Everyone says, Haroo!

How do I obtain the Acolyte Legend tag?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We value our members that have been part of our community for years and have made a positive impact and influence in our Acolyte community. Not only have you been an Acolyte for a long time, but you have also kept in contact with all of us through our various avenues of communication. We wanted to make the Acolyte Legend tag not something very easily attainable to give it meaning and purpose to those that do obtain it.

Having the Acolyte Legend tag means you have met the following two criteria:

  • 5 years minimum as an Acolyte
  • No more than a 1 year hiatus where there was no communication either via forums, Discord, in a game or on our community Facebook page.
